Surgery January 12 will fuse his cervical vertebrae together but doctors say only some use may return. Please pray for Jeff, the surgery, the surgeons and pray for Jeff’s family who will take care of him during the 8 weeks of recovery.
Date: Wed, 7 Dec 2011 21:00:32 -0500 Pray for Billy (AE#36) and Amanda Gard and family. With a toddler at home, they gave birth to twin boys prematurely in August. Baby Davis has grown well and has been released from the NICU at Duke, but baby Wyatt has faced several surgeries already in attempts to fix a severe heart defect. Doctors say a transplant is the only option and the family is wrestling with the fact that praying for Wyatt’s new heart means praying for someone else’s loss. Amanda is at Duke with the baby at the Ronald McDonald House, Billy is between home in Manns Harbor for work and visits to Duke with Amanda and the twins. They face many emotional stresses as well as the finances of more than 3 months in the NICU, loss of work, travel expenses, and the cost of a transplant ahead of them. Please lift them up in your prayers, consider any kind of love offering or cards of support that you may be led to offer.

He has undergone tests that indicate blockage in at least three arteries that has been confirmed by Norfolk and Pitt Memorial. He will be transported to Pitt this afternoon and undergo either by-pass or alternative surgery ASAP.

Date: Thu, 21 Jul 2011 20:08:25 -0400 Pray for Jimmy and Leverna (AE#08) Copeland. About four weeks ago Leverna fell and broke her arm. She still has visible bruises and is in considerable pain. When she fell Leverna landed on a beach chair and her fingers were caught in the track of the arm rest. Her arm has an incision from the elbow to the shoulder with metal plates and screws to keep the bone together. She cannot sit or stand for any length of time and Jimmy must see to all her needs. Pray for comfort, healing and rest.
Date: Thursday, 21 April 2011 08:25:25 -0500 (EDT) Pray for Charles Ray Duprey Sr. of Wytheville, VA, who suffered a heart attack yesterday. Ray is at the Louis-Gale Medical Center, Coronary Care Unit Salem, VA. He has three blocked carotid arteries and an Aortic Valve to be replaced. No actual damage to the heart muscle even after the heart attack. Doctors are trying to get him stable to operate.

Visitation is scheduled for 6-8pm Saturday, Oct. 30, at Maitland Funeral Home in Creswell and the funeral service is scheduled for 3pm, Sunday, October 31, at Mount Hermon UMC in Creswell.

The doctor said two of the three stints they put in two years ago failed and the other one is almost blocked. Debbie is the sister-in-law to Pat (AE#44) & Philip Ruckle (AE#43) in Manteo.

Date: Sat, 29 May 2010 11:18:58 -0400 Pray for Pierce Lowing, a neighbor and friend to Rose Monroe. While Michael was out of town Rose locked herself out of the house last evening. Pierce came to help and while using a ladder to go through an attic vent van space about 5 feet onto his back, lost consciousness and was taken to Pitt ICU with a brain hemorrhage, fractured a vertebrae and has had a possible stroke. Please pray for Pierce, his family and Rose Monroe. Michael is on his way home and could use prayer for safe travel.

update: June 5 This week has seen ups and downs that come with ICU and a severe respiratory infection. The amount of the mucus in his lungs and the fluid build-up in his body made it so hard for him to have a normal respiratory rate. The good news is that he got progressively better throughout the day & doctors were able to identify the bacteria in his lungs and give him better antibiotics, and all while keeping his heart healthy.
update: June 7 Ray is out of the "active" delusional stage and is aware of who is around him and what is going on. The CT scan showed a blood clot in his lung.
update: June 9 The best news is that he is looking and feeling so much better with spirits high and realistic expectations of a long, slow recovery (vs. the “get me out of here today” desire).

He is paralyzed with a respirator and feeding tube. The process is reversible but takes time to run it’s course. Doctors are very optimistic because he is in such good shape. Prayer will help.
