Emmaus of the Albemarle, Inc. began as a branch off the Tidewater, VA, Emmaus community. First established in March of 1995 as Upper Room Emmaus of the Albemarle Area, the communty was known simply as Albemarle Emmaus and serves more than a dozen counties in northeastern North Carolina. The communty is governed by a Board of Directors and was incorporated in 2009 under the new name of Emmaus of the Albemarle, Inc. The Board of Directors oversees area activities including a Gathering the second Saturday of each month. We follow the model set out by The Upper Room ministry unit of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church with adaptations to meet the unique geographic area of the northeastern North Carolina area.
