VOLUNTEER ALERT Chrysalis Agape Coordinator Needed
Marjorie and Walker Rayburn will be resigning their position as Agape Coordinators for Chrysalis.  Please prayerfully consider the position and listen for that still, small voice that tells you to volunteer.  The Rayburns will be happy to help with training and the transition.

From the Emmaus Community Lay Director:

As I sit down to write my first "words of wisdom" as new lay director,
I do so with a blank brain and a full heart.  The Albemarle Emmaus community has been such a wonderful experience for me since my walk in 1995 that I absolutely love being with everyone at gatherings and weekend walks.  But that does not mean I will be able to write beautiful messages each month as our past lay directors have done, only God knows what will come out of me.
I accept this opportunity to serve as facilitator to support you as you use your talents and skills to keep Emmaus working smoothly so many others can experience what we enjoy.  As we begin this new year, decide that you will become more involved in the process.  Volunteer to work on committees, learn how it's done so you can be ready to be chairman.  There are many opportunities to get involved in agape,  pre-weekend, newsletter, music, arkkeeper, annual picnic and prayer vigils. Feel free to visit a board meeting or bring new ideas and problems to our attention.  Remember the true leader of our community is GOD and that we are to seek His will in every part of Emmaus so that He is glorified.
De Colores !

HOST CHURCHES FOR GATHERINGS:
A host church for a gathering is responsible for the following:
  1. Unlocking the church so the communion committee can set up.
  2. Providing a nursery for the first half (business) of the gathering.
  3. Set up for refreshments.  Church members should provide ice, cups, and plates.
Also provide some drinks and snacks (the community should also be bringing food and drinks to help)
The host church DOES NOT have to provide communion.

From the Chrysalis Community Lay Director:
Dear Community,
I am excited about all the new ideas and plans that the Chrysalis Board of Directors and youth in the Chrysalis Community have in mind for this upcoming year.  With the help of the Emmaus Board of Directors and the youth in the Chrysalis Community, we hope to build a stronger and more active foundation for our youth.  Please keep us in your prayers as we seek the Lord's will for the Albemarle Chrysalis Community.

AGAPE NEEDS:
Both Chrysalis and Emmaus need AGAPE BAGS and PLACEMATS.   Let's all "chip in".

BOARD MEETING MINUTE HIGHLIGHTS:
From the joint Chrysalis/Emmaus Boards meeting June 10, 2001:
     1.  The 4H Center liaisons for both Emmaus and Chrysalis will be Jerry Beaton and Wallace Nelson.  To reduce confusion for the 4H Center personnel, ALL correspondence from the 4H Center and to the 4H Center will pass through Wallace and Jerry.  Lay Directors of each walk or flight should coordinate with Wallace and Jerry to review and approve their weekend contracts.
     2.  New age guidelines were set for Youth and Adult Chrysalis teaming.  A Chrysalis teamer will be considered a YOUTH if they are between the ages of 15(with 9th grade completed) and 21.  All individuals 22 and over will be considered ADULT.
     3.  There will be no liaison positions between the Emmaus and Chrysalis Boards.  The Boards will conduct a joint meeting quarterly to keep informed and be of assistance to each other.

The following AC-17 team list was not received in time to be inserted in the printed newsletter.  Therefore, these names are available only on the website this month.
