From the AE Community Lay Director:

    In the last month the world has turned their attention to the terrible events of September 11 and the days of fear that have followed.  Every form of media is constantly bringing it into our homes and now we are at war.  A renewed sense of patriotism is seen everywhere and it is all right to ask for God’s help.
    Where do you turn in times of trouble?  Do you turn away in denial or fear, or do you turn and face hardship, knowing that you will have the strength to endure?
    The men’s walk last weekend had the answer,  “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.”  Without God we are ruled by fear and uncertainty but when God is the master of your life you gain inner peace and the guarantee that your future is secure in Him.  With the promises of God to deliver and sustain us comes the responsibility to tell others the good news of Jesus Christ and that God is in control.  The women’s walk this weekend charges us to be the light in a dark world.  As the Emmaus Community we have a wonderful opportunity to share our faith and to support and encourage each other.  This time is a real test we must not forget that God’s character does not permit Him to fail us.  He says He will carry us through and we must live our lives on that promise.
