Board Meeting

From the Emmaus Community Lay Director:
gardner
I am writing this while sitting in my garden having a cup of morning coffee.   For those that know me well, they know that this is one of my favorite places and spring is my favorite time of year.   I've worked hard over the past years to make this garden a special place. Some of the things I did didn't turn out, like the fish pond.   (This is my third design and at least for now, it's just like I want it .  .  .  .   well maybe the waterfall could use some improving).
I've moved flowers from one place to another year after year looking for the right sun or shade, the right color arrangement or the right height.   I've added bird feeders and houses each year to get a new bird in the yard.   Each year new seating   .  .  .  .   a swing, a bench, a hammock   .  .  .  .   has been added to make sure every area could be enjoyed.   With all my planting and effort, each year a plant pops up where I didn't expect it .  .  .  .   or one I thought was dead, comes alive: the grass grows too quick; the weeks show their ugly head or something I thought was going to be so beautiful happens to smell bad.
I say this because my garden is like Christian life, it takes a lot of effort to really enjoy.   you have to get out of bed to get to Sunday School, you have to read and study to grow deeper in understanding, and you have to join a group to enjoy Christian fellowship.   You have to witness to show someone else THE WAY, you have to plant or the fruit never comes.   Some times what you do doesn't produce what you thought you needed or wanted to get.   Yes, my garden is work and it never stops. Effort is never over but the blessing is wotrth it and so is the Christian life.
De Colores,
      Barbara
