From Our Emmaus Community Lay Director

I would like to take this opportunity to thank God for the beautiful day he gave us for our annual picnic at the Cale Conference Center. I also want to thank everyone that helped to put together the different parts of this event, bringing the supplies, ice, drinks and food, the willing hands that received the food, arranged it on the tables, and the clean up crew. Everyone enjoyed the special music as all of those presenting it were superb and very inspiring. A very big  "Thank You"  goes to Cale Conference for allowing us to meet at their beautiful facility.
Please continue to pray for our community and your Board of Directors. Pray for the teams of AE 48 and AE 49. The walks are full so pray that the Pilgrims will be touched by the leadership of the team as God works through them. Pray that we will always be aware of the gifts that God has given each of us and remember to use them for His glory.

S.C. Basnight

AGAPE NEEDS
Both Emmaus and KAIROS need placemats and agape letters.  Handwritten notes for Kairos mean more than you can know!  Start on them today, since you should address them "Dear Resident" and all need to be exactly the same.

COOKIES:
Kairos PCI#6 is rapidly approaching, and that means 2,000 dozen cookies will be needed. Chocolate chip only, with each dozen in its own plain Ziploc bag (no "slide locks" allowed.) Drop off points will be announced at the September Gathering, and may be delivered to any Kairos Team member. Cookies should be turned in by September 18th.  Start making them now and freeze 'em . . . a few dozen each weekend as a family project would really add up by September.

Thank you for all your hard work and efforts to keep up the supply of general agape needs, we really appreciate it!! We have some urgent needs at this time, and they are " I'm Loveable " backs for the pins (this is the felt flower, pattern is on the AGAPE page of this web site www.albemarleemmaus.org or at the gatherings) ," Placemats" too!!!  A note on the placemats If you have blanks out there, please decorate them and get them turned in as soon as possible. We have distributed lots of blanks but they are not coming in like they should . . .  we will need them in the next few weeks to a month because we have 3 walks coming up very soon, two women's & one men's. Please also keep in mind as you are decorating these so beautifully that you keep DECOLORES placemats separate from GOOD MORNING placemats. These are two separate settings and should not be combined on the same mat. Also, if you feel you would like to do some placemats for a certain walk, please contact the head cha of that walk to let them know that you are doing so, and deliver those mats to them before the walk.

Thank you again for all your efforts,

Joy Denton & Mandy Morgan

A Message From Our Kairos PCI - 6 Rector

Plans are well underway for PCI # 6 which will be held September 19 to 22, 2002, at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. Teaming began on Friday, August 9th. There is still a need for both inside and outside team members. God will have the residents that He wants in place for the weekend. He will also have the team in place that He needs.
So far more than 175 men have attended a Kairos weekend at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. Just recently I received a letter from one of these men. In his letter he said,  " Everyday I have to thank God for the changes he has brought about in me. See if it wasn't for the Kairos volunteers, I still wouldn't be saved and mylife would be miserable. I'm living proof that the Lord changes the heart of man. Praise God!! "
Why not serve as a team member of PCI#6? I can promise you that you will be blessed and you will be a blessing.

PCI # 6 Rector
