From Our Emmaus Community Lay Director

Let me again welcome our new members to your Albemarle Emmaus Community. I am reminded of Romans 12 when I think of the walk to Emmaus. Paul tells us to present our bodies a living and holy sacrifice to God and do not be conformed to this world. Paul also says that God has allotted each one with gifts. Since we have gifts that differ let each exercise them accordingly. I pray that everyone will read Romans 12 and then use their gift to make their church a better place to worship and praise God.       Yours in Christ,           S.C. Basnight

Kairos Notes

Kairos is in the process of purchasing chairs for local Kairos weekend events, specifically Sunday night closings. Albemarle Kairos is accepting donations to cover the cost of 160 new chairs at $18 each to reimburse Kairos of NC by December 1, 2002 for the purchase. Those of you on PCI-6 saw 4 chairs go down, thankfully, without injuries. If you would like to donate green agape to this cause, contact Bob Clinkscales at (252) 426-7720, or send a check to Albemarle Emmaus, Post Office Box 1198, Edenton,NC 27932. Mark it for "Karios Chairs".

A North Carolina state legislative committee is looking at the need for Chaplins in prisons. To help keep Chaplains in State Prisons contact one of these committee members.

Board Notes

The AE board has decided we will no longer sell candles at gatherings or candlelights. There were concerns voiced from the community that items should not be sold in churches. Therefore, the board also voted that a candle would be included in each pilgrim's fourth day packet. AE 49 ladies received theirs, AE 48 pilgrims (only) who still have not acquired a candlecan call Frances Hampton at (252) 453-2177 evenings to be checked off the pilgrim list and she will see that you get one.
Also, take note that if you have a candle now, it would be a good idea to store your candle without the batteries in them until time to use them. Batteries tend to corrode and therefore not useable.     If you have a light that is not working, there are replacement parts. Contact Miriam & Tony Hughes at HTM Concepts (252) 482-8212 to see about getting that taken care of.
Now is a good time to find battery operated lights. Christmas is approaching and stores are stocking up (food for thought).
We're also looking for missing song books. It was never intended for anyone to take any song books home, and the number of books on hand appear to be dwindling. If you have one of the Albemarle Emmaus song books, please contact an AE Board Member to help us get them back.
