Albemarle Emmaus Prayer Requests

Please remember that these prayer concerns are offered for Community PRAYER, not so we can pry into the lives of those named. Not everyone wants their personal lives made public even if we are praying for them so please, before adding another's name to the prayer list, verify that they want to be on this list.

Wanted: Kairos Kookies

The purpose of Kairos is to build strong Christian communities inside prison walls. It begins with a three-day short course in Christianity and continues with small share and prayer groups amoung the residents of the institution. Cookies are distributed to every resident and staff member during the three-day weekend. These homemade cookies are a tangible and vital expression of Christ's love and witness from the outside Christian community.

Important Specifications:
  1. Key Ingredient: Prayer
  2. Bake ONLY sturdy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
  3. DO NOT add fruit, nuts, or coating of ANY KIND to the cookies. Make only plain cookies.
  4. Size: two to two and-a-half (2 - 2 1/2 ) inches in diameter. Thin, crisp cookies break easily and cannot be used. Cookies should be not more than 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Allow cookies to COOL COMPLETELY before bagging. Warm cookies will stick together and cannot be used.
  6. Bag cookies in zip-lock freezer bags, a dozen per bag. One-quart bags are the best size to use. DO NOT use the zipper type bags
  7. Pack bags in sturdy boxes such as shoe box or copy paper box so they will survive the trip to prison.
  8. Freeze any cookies not used within 3 days.
  9. Cookies can be given to any Karios team member, check next month's newsletter for a team list.
We may need up to 2,000 dozen cookies for a typical PCI Kairos weekend. If you do the math you'll find that we will need 24,000 cookies!

Homemade cookies (kookies) are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God’s concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives.
Your loving sacrifice will provide “bread” that shines the Light of God’s Grace into the darkest corners of a prison unit.

Hey Delores ! ! !

Hey Delores Hey Delores!!
I get the paper newsletter, but sometimes things happen that are not in the newsletter. How can I keep up with what's going on?

- - Left Out

Dear Out:
Let's try to get you back in.
If you have Internet access, try checking the Albemarle Emmaus web site at www.albemarleemmaus.org for late-breaking news. You can set your web browser to use www.albemarleemmaus.org as your Home Page.
If you don't have Internet access we could call you every day with a schedule update, but the fee for that is currently $64,000 per year and it's probably cheaper to buy a computer and learn how to surf the Internet.
Another, cheaper, alternative is to ask a friend with Email/Internet access to keep you posted. That's one of the benefits of Reunion Groups  . . .
