“What gets me into the Kingdom,
from Christ's own statement,
is not saying 'Lord, Lord,'

A Few Things to Remember:
Everyone should take time to qualify any Caterpillar or Pilgrim. Make sure they are ready for a Flight or Walk Weekend. We should never send someone just to "fill a space."
If you cannot draw place mat try coloring one others have drawn. If you cannot draw or color . . . donate green agape. Everyone can do something.
First United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, GA, is hosting the Emmaus/Chrysalis Celebration April 8 — 9. Click here to download the 4.6 MB size file brochure/registration in PDF format.
There are only ten Pilgrim openings left for the October Men's Walk.
Team applications are due for the October walks by July 1. Applications must be mailed to: Albemarle Emmaus, Post Office Box 1198, Edenton, NC 27932
There are no Pilgrim application cutoff dates, dates listed are for first consideration.
Chrysalis & Emmaus sponsor fees must be paid by the date due stated in your sponsor letter. If fees are not paid on time Pilgrims will not be permitted to attend the weekend. That's just one reason it is important to save your sponsor letter. Keep informed of all important dates. Avoid being embarrassed and have your money in on time.

It is not too soon to start thinking about Kairos PCI #11 scheduled for the weekend of April 28 to May 1, 2005. As Outside Coordinator for PCI #11 Pat Johnson is requesting community agape for the weekend.

Kairos Children's Agape

Children's agape is greatly valued by the prison residents.   More than any other form, God uses this one to melt the hardest of hearts leaving it open to receiving the message of His love. Please ask your Sunday School classes to consider this service for the Lord.   The rules that must be followed are:
  1. Construction paper folded with hand drawn pictures and notes or Bible verses in crayon, markers or colored pencils are GREAT.
  2. DO NOT USE TAPE, STICKERS, OR GLUE. Nothing of this kind can be given to the residents.
  3. Please have children sign first names and age only.
  4. Please don't put church names on the card or note.
  5. Do not put cards into sealed envelopes.
  6. Children's letters do not need to be alike or be in groups of 43.

Kairos Adult Agape

Green Agape: Money for Kairos is separate from Emmaus.   If you would like to make a donation to Kairos, make your check out to: Kairos of North Carolina and send to Post Office Box 1755, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
Prayers: Please sign one of the 'praying for you' chain links.   These links are made into a chain and put together on the weekend and placed around the talk room for the residents.   Prayer chain sign up sheets will be available at the next Gathering.
Written Agape: Anyone wishing to hand write agape must follow all Kairos and Pasquotank Correctional Institution guidelines or the agape cannot be forwarded to the residents.
  •   No Bookmarks, pens, pencils, machine printed material, stickers, or anything with glue can be used for agape.
  •   43 notes, letters, or words of encouragement are to be submitted
  •   All 43 residents must receive the same agape from adults on exactly the same note cards, postcards, or stationery.
  •   The same ink pen must be used for each piece of agape and the note may not vary in content.
  •   Place the handwritten agape in an unsealed envelope.
  •   Please allow the Lord to form your letter. We ask that you not write to them about their crime or sentencing but focus on the Christian message of God's love and forgiveness.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Instructions
  1.   Bake only sturdy chocolate chip cookies.
  2.   Do not add fruit, nuts or coatings of any kind. Make only PLAIN chocolate chip cookies.
  3.   Please size the finished cookies to be about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
  4.   Bag cookies in freezer bags. One dozen cookies per bag. One quart freezer bags are the best size to use.
  5.   Allow cookies to cool completely before bagging. Warm cookies will stick together and can not be used.
  6.   Pack bagged cookies in a sturdy box, such as a shoe box or a copy paper box so they will safely make the trip to Pasquotank Correctional Institution.
  7.   Cookies may be given to any Kairos team member (or delivered to a drop off point to be announced later) before PCI-10 begins.
Please give all agape for the upcoming weekend to a Kairos member from your church.

Cale Retreat Leader Position
Members of the Chrysalis Community might be interested in knowing that Cale Retreat is looking for summer Leader In Training (LIT) Counselors. The job is expected to be a lot of fun, provide lots of laughter and good food as well as a wonderful opportunity to learn leadership skills. There will be, however, lots of work and long hours. This position is not for new Christians or Christians who are not willing to serve or reach out to others. These counselor positions are for mature young men and women who desire to help others see Christ in them and have a great time doing it. The number one objective and duty of all LIT staff will be to look to the safety of the campers. They should also be willing to counsel the campers and be ready to lead them to the saving knowledge of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

There will be one week of required training June 6th - 10th which will include a CPR and first aid course offered by the American Red Cross, paid for by Cale. Some staff will also be given the opportunity to become lifeguard certified through the Red Cross.

For a pdf printable application click here, or feel free to call the director, Steve Carter, at 252-264-2513. Steve will answer any questions concerning this information or any other matters. If you get the answering machine please speak clearly and slowly leave you name and number and briefly what the call is in reference to. When you fill out the LIT application, please mail it in with a picture of yourself to Cale Retreat, 257 Camp Cale Road, Hertford NC 27944.

A number of people in our Albemarle Emmaus Community have responded to our efforts at cutting back on postage costs and the time it takes to prepare each month's newsletters. However, our Albemarle Emmaus mailing list continues to grow with more than 200 names added each year. Our mailing list now includes 820 names. If you receive one of our paper newsletter mailings and view or print a copy from the web site, think about helping save AE money and the newsletter staff time by eliminating the paper copy. A simple will send your Email request for email notice each time a newsletter is posted to the AE web site the week after each Gathering. Include in your message your name and mailing address & ask to be removed from the snail-mail list   .   .   .   it's that simple.   .   .   .   And you'll probably see the newsletter on the web before a paper copy makes it to your mailbox.
Agape Needed
Our community continues to sponsor Pilgrims and with each walk of the five area walks the need for Agape continues. • Lanyards
  • Warm Fuzzies
  • I'm Lovable Felt Flowers & Hearts
  • Agape Bags
  • First Stones
  • and, as always, Placemats
