A Message from Our Community Lay Director
At the end of the day, the little pony returned home and said "I think I have had a busy day, I must have traveled more than 80 miles." "No," was the response, "you have only traveled a quarter of a mile around the same circle 320 times with someone directing you where to go and what to do."

How many times do we find ourselves making pony tracks, lacking real movement and motion? How often do our routines and ruts prevent us from stepping up and stepping out? Do you find yourself making pony tracks and going in circles?

The footprints our beloved Savior are ones of boldness and courage. How can we continue to go in familiar ruts without some sense of boldness? Let us commit ourselves to walking in the footsteps of Jesus, not those of the pony.

As we approach what I call the "Season of Walks", the winter Chrysalis flight, the beach walk, and the March walks, let us walk in the footsteps of Jesus through a renewed display of servanthood. I encourage the Albemarle Emmaus community to step up and step out by sponsoring a pilgrim or catepillar in one of the upcoming walks or participating in the teaming process. Let us pray for God to walk with us and us with Him as we gather the courage to take bold steps in our lives.

With our two fall walks right around the corner and a winter women's walk close behind them Albemarle Emmaus is about to receive more of God's finest into the community. With that in mind we would like to make a few friendly reminders:

  1. First, begin praying now for both walks. Pray for each team member, all pilgrims, the sponsors etc.
  2. 2. Sponsors should have personal letters for a Pilgrim from those most special to that Pilgrim. Keep in mind the quantity of letters is not important - what is important is that you know them well enough to get letters on their behalf from the people that will be most meaningful for them.
  3. 3. Agape letters need first and last names on each envelope - not your name not nicknames. Please remember that there will probably be at least 25 other pilgrims that will also be “Momma” or “Daddy” just as there might be two or more “John” or “Sue” pilgrims. Having a Pilgrim's letter with their first and last name helps that letter make it to the right person on time. It also helps at sorting time if all are labeled correctly.
  4. As community we DO NOT touch or hug pilgrims or team during the walk weekend.
  5. Separate personal from general Agape - put a “P” in the right hand corner of personal letters or separate them in bags or bundles and make sure they are clearly labeled.
  6. You do not need 100 personal letters. About a dozen will do.
  7. Remember to sort Agape A L P H A B E T I C A L L Y.
  8. It also makes it fool-proof to sort if all are labeled clearly &correctly. It's a good idea to PRINT.
  9. Team and Pilgrim agape needs to be separated and properly labeled.
  10. Pilgrims receive personal letters in their cloth bags on Friday, and then receive additional agape Friday and Saturday nights. Team members receive agape in their Cloth Bags on Friday and then Saturday night. Please do not include “Friday” or “Saturday” as part of the Agape label. If you want it given at a particular time include it in a bag labeled that way.
  11. Nothing bigger than 4-1/2 X 6 inches will be given to a Pilgrim unless there is one for every Pilgrim. Only letter sized envelopes will fit in the cloth Agape bags.
  12. Flowers for Maninitas are due at Candlelight Saturday night. Cha's divide all flowers equally prior to bedtime Saturday night to have ready for distribution to Pilgrims Sunday morning. Bringing flowers the morning of Maninitas adds to an Agape Cha's already busy work schedule.
  13. NO GIFTS -   Please.  Wrapped gifts and Gift bags will be given back to sponsors at Send - off if any are brought. Please save any gifts for the Pilgrims for their 4th day.
We are truly blessed with such a loving and caring community - let's just remember that these guidelines are in place to aid in the logistics of a pleasant weekend and to enhance each individual Pilgrim's experience.

AC 26 Team applications are due September 10th &
caterpillar applications are due October 8th.
We have very few applications on file as of today for teamers and caterpillars.

AC25 A Success
Dear Emmaus Community,

AC25 was a huge success thanks to you, sending young people who were ready to experience all that God had to offer them! Even though we had some spots not filled with caterpillars, God knew just who was there and who needed to be there. From send-off to closing, Jesus was seen in the team and community. God equips those he calls - whether to serve or be served. What a mighty God we serve!!

I want to thank everyone for their prayers, agape, and attendance at Sponsor's Hour, Candlelight, Mananitas and Closing. We had a very, very warm weekend, weather-wise, and I know that it was a sacrifice on your part to leave your air-conditioned homes to be with us. Each flicker of a candle, each "I love you" wave, each blown kiss, each crazy costume was worth all of the sacrifice you made for your caterpillar. To be able to sit back and watch the transformation was a special treat. Beautiful butterflies emerged from nervous caterpillars and it was great to watch the change.

Please continue to keep our butterflies in your prayers. This is a very delicate time for them as they try out their new wings. May God continue to keep them in the palm of His hand and protect them from the snares of the enemy. Thank you once again for sending the wonderful young people you sent. God is raising up a mighty army with your help.

Fly With Christ!

Interested in sponsoring a Pilgrim or serving on an Albemarle Emmaus Team?   Then mark these important dates on your calendar:

Emmaus Logo   Albemarle Emmaus Logo Application Due Date
Team Pilgrim
Women's Winter Walk  (mid January) October 1st November 1st
Men's Spring Walk  (early March) December 1st January 1st
Women's Spring Walk  (mid March) December 1st January 1st

Women's Fall Walk  (mid October) July 1st August 1st

Applications must be mailed to: Albemarle Emmaus
Post Office Box 1198
Edenton, NC 27932

There really are no Pilgrim application cutoff dates, dates listed for first consideration, anything after that goes to the next walk unless space becomes available on something earlier. So mark your calendars.

And, while you're making notes, make a note that Chrysalis and Emmaus sponsor fees must be paid by the date due stated in the sponsor letter.   If fees are not paid by the due date Pilgrims will not be permitted to attend the weekend.     That's one reason it is important that you save your sponsor letter when you receive it, to keep informed of all important dates.

Avoid being embarrassed and have your money in on time.

Home Security

An elderly woman returned home from church one evening and was startled by an intruder. Catching a young man in the act of robbing her home, she yelled, “Stop! - Acts 2:38.”
( . . . turn from your sin . . . )

With that the burglar stopped dead in his tracks and waited while the woman calmly called the police.

When she explained to the officer what she had done, the officer cuffed the burglar and asked why he stood there when the lady yelled a scripture verse.

“Scripture?” replied the burglar, “She said she had an AXE and two 38s!
