| NC Kairos Prison Ministry The purpose of Kairos is to build strong Christian communities inside prison walls.
It begins with a three-day short course in Christianity and continues with prayer and share groups among the residents.
Cookies are distributed to every prison resident and staff member during the 3-day weekend.
Handmade cookies are a tangible and vital expression of Christ’s love and witness from the outside Chrisitian community.

Subject: Thank you for praying for me

I am Zelly Zim.
I was searching the Internet for fun looking if my name was posted anywhere.
I saw that my full name, Zelly Zim, (not just Zelly or Zim) was said to be on your site.
I clicked on the link and saw that I was on your prayer list.
Thank you very much. At the end of December I was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma.
I finished my chemotherapy June 1st and got my port removed yesterday, July 7th.
I am now cancer free and I am convinced that your prayers have helped.
May our God be praised and may your ministry continue to bless many of God’s children.
I have attached a picture of me playing my cello.
I look just like that now. Minus the hair!
God Bless,
Zelly
P.S. Its not that important but, my birthday was May 12. I am now 13!
Date: Mon, 17 Oct 2005 23:30:48 -0400 From: Email User Subject: Add an AE Prayer Request To: Please pray for all of us that have gone off to college. I've not had a very good first 2 months of school... and I strayed. But thank God, somehow i got back on track and now I'm staying away from things that might get me in trouble. (I don't really want anyone to know my name... just know that I was on a recent Chrysalis Walk)
There are many forms of Agape for our community - many of us are familiar with the agape letters we received . . . but there's so much more. Making cloth agape bags is one of the many kinds of Agape needed to make a weekend complete. Right now we are we are critically low on CLOTH AGAPE BAGS.
If you have fabric please take the time to make some new Agape Bags and bring or send them to the next Gathering. If you do not have fabric and would like to help out please contact Marcia Danchise.
Marcia has plenty of "fun fabric" for those who can sew and are willing to make bags - she can be reached during the day at 800.638.8464 or evenings at 252.473.2656 or to tell her you'll help out and she'll send you fabric, pattern, specifications and drawstring right to your house! Please remember too that Agape Bag specifications can be found in the Agape Section of our website.
Placemats are another form of Agape. Our community uses 550 decorated placemats each walk weekend - that's 2750 per year just for the Emmaus Walks (plus another 630 each Chrysalis Flight). Placemat patterns are available in the Agape area of our web site.
One suggestion mentioned at the September Gathering for those art-challenged members of our community was to use iron on designs which can be found at Wal-Mart and add a scripture verse. Blank place mats are available from our Emmaus Community Agape Coordinator Joy Denton (252-482-7105) .
Being involved - it's a great way to serve the Lord and help out the community.
We now send more than 850 newsletters to the Albemarle Emmaus and Albemarle Chrysalis Community. You can help save Albemarle Emmaus TIME & MONEY by printing this newsletter from the web and having your name taken off the Snail Mail list. Contact Philip Ruckle at (252) 473-1301 or send an E-mail to

DEEPER UNDERSTANDING
A DAY OF DEEPER UNDERSTANDING will be held at
Evangelical Methodist Church in Elizabeth City on Saturday, November 12, 2005.
It will begin promptly at 2:30 pm and you'll need to sign in so please plan to allow yourself a little extra time. A Day of Deeper Understanding is provided for all Pilgrims and Caterpillars who have attended a Walk to Emmaus or a Chrysalis Flight. This is designed to give you a "deeper understanding" of the purpose and structure of the Walk to Emmaus Movement. You will learn more about Sponsorship, Teaming and different forms of Agape to be involved in. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend even if you attended one many moons ago... information has been updated and there's always something everyone can learn by attending. Please remember; in order to sponsor someone in the future, or team on a walk, you must have attended a Day of Deeper Understanding. We welcome all new to the Emmaus community and look forward to seeing a big crowd on Nov. 12. |

| Women's Fall Walk (mid October) | July 1st | August 1st |
| Applications must be mailed to: |
Albemarle Emmaus Post Office Box 1198 Edenton, NC 27932 |
There really are no Pilgrim application cutoff dates, dates listed for first consideration, anything after that goes to the next walk unless space becomes available on something earlier. So mark your calendars.
And, while you're making notes, make a note that Chrysalis and Emmaus sponsor fees must be paid by the date due stated in the sponsor letter. If fees are not paid by the due date Pilgrims will not be permitted to attend the weekend. That's one reason it is important that you save your sponsor letter when you receive it, to keep informed of all important dates.
Avoid being embarrassed and have your money in on time.

Bless This Sermon A preacher's little boy inquired, "Daddy, I notice every Sunday morning when you first come out to preach, you sit up on the platform and bow your head. What are you doing? " The father explained, "I'm asking the Lord to give me a good sermon." This led the little boy to ask, "Why don't he?" |
