AGAPE NOTES
agape image

Placemats are just one form of Agape that we use a lot of on every Emmaus weekend. Our community uses 550 decorated placemats each walk weekend - that’s 2750 each year just for the Emmaus Walks. We use another 650 each Chrysalis Flight. That’s more than 4,000 placemats a year. And a lot of work for one person. English Playwright and Poet John Heywood once said “Many hands make light work.” with that in mind, if 100 people in the community each prepared 40 place mats, that would be just about enough for what the community uses each year.

If you would like to prepare some placemats, patterns are available in the Agape area of our web site. And, please remember:
If you would like to do placemats for a certain walk, please contact the Agape Coordinator for that walk to make sure they know what you are doing, and deliver those placemats before the walk. Failing to follow these guidelines could result in producing placemats that cannot be used.

Weave Us Together
What a wonderful turn-out for the Day of Deeper Understanding at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Saturday. A large group came to learn more about all the work in God’s love that goes on behind the scenes during the Walk to Emmaus. We had pilgrims that walked years ago there for their first DoDU, as well as pilgrims that walked just a few weeks ago.

Information was given on sponsorship, teaming, the history of Emmaus, agape, and above all, the abundant amount of prayer in which the weekend is immersed in. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from the leadership of those more recent walks and from the community that contributed their time on Saturday to help “Weave Us Together.”

Saturday night at the gathering, we sang one of my favorites . . . Weave. The first line goes something like this: Weave, weave, weave us together in unity and love. We are one tapestry woven together in God’s love. As we enter the upcoming holiday season, let’s keep ourselves woven together in God’s unity and love. During the holidays, we tend to get all caught up in the hustle and bustle of the moment. Take time to be thankful for the many blessings that we experience each and every day. Stay woven in God’s love and remember that He is the reason for the upcoming season.
I love you all,
DeColores,
Freda Nelson
