          Thank You!

God created biological families to nurture us, and He designed brothers and sisters to protect each other. Most of the time, brothers and sisters do look out for each other. You may have had a big brother to stand up for you when you were convincing your mother that you really WERE telling the truth or that the school bully really did take your milk money. And no doubt, you’ve had conflicts with brothers and sisters. If you haven’t, you may not be normal. But in addition, brothers and sisters give you emotional support and protection; and you probably did the same in return.

Now take that concept and transfer it to brothers and sisters in Christ. Brothers and sisters in Christ also provide support and protection to each other. They provide encouragement and love when you need it the most. There are so many brothers and sisters in Christ to which I am thankful. The entire Albemarle Emmaus Community has provided support during the time that I have served as Community Lay Director.

As the community leadership position passes from me to Mike Twiddy, I thank you with the utmost of sincerity for allowing me to serve in this capacity during the past year. It has been an awesome experience and I appreciate the support offered from each and every one of you. I could not have done it without you and God by my side.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

Your sister in Christ,

Freda Nelson,
                                    out-going Community Lay Director

Hey Delores ! ! !

Hey Delores
I sent my application to team weeks ago and have not even heard if it was received. How can I find out if Albemarle Emmaus got my application?

Thanks for your question. It’s one that frequently comes in from new people to the community.

There is no notice sent out when an application has been received. Once the team selection committee has completed its work the walk Lay Director should send out a note to anyone not selected to team that walk. Some past lay directors said they send “reject” letters before notes go out to anyone that HAS been selected to team.

As with any system anywhere things can go wrong and an application does not make it to the Emmaus or Chrysalis Post Office when intended, or at all. Those cases are rare but many times the person involved has said God worked things out even better than they could have planned it themselves had the application arrived on time.

Asking a pre-weekend person or anyone else involved to send out a confirmation notice would be asking an already overworked volunteer to work even longer. That’s taking free time away from their family or using time that could be used to process the application.

Of course one way to keep track of your application is to take it to the Post Office and then stand outside the mail box and keep watch until you see someone come along and pick it up.

I hope this helps.
