Join us next week, August 25th, at Cale Retreat on the Perquimans River for our Annual Community Picnic & Gathering. An assortment of activities are scheduled to begin about 2:00 pm, dinner will be around 5:30 pm followed by a Fourth Day Speaker. We will not be having a regular business session.

To pay for the use of facilities and other event related expenses, the suggested donation is $4 per person (up to a maximum of $12 per family).
This year we will grill hot dogs and hamburgers. Community members should bring a favorite side dish and a dessert. Ice, paper products and utensils will be provided as well as iced tea, water and lemonade. Other family beverages will be welcome.

We plan to have music, horse shoes, use of the volleyball court and related equipment, tetherball courts, Basketball courts, various games, with lots of fellowship, and lots and lots of FUN, in addition to Communion.

A paid lifeguard will be available from 2 to 5 pm for swimming. Boating and canoeing is available for an extra fee, showers are not included.

This is a chance to take time off from a busy summer schedule and join in the fun   .   .   .   you'll need to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, and please remember that you can always volunteer to help set up and/or clean up.

HELP WANTED:

We have a Support Team opening for a part time volunteer AGAPE CHAIRPERSON. The ideal candidate is somewhat creative, reasonably organized, detail-oriented, with excellent people skills. The ideal candidate is somewhat creative, reasonably organized, detail oriented, with excellent people skills. A strong prayer life is helpful. We are looking for someone that will assist in the overall co-ordination and collection of Agape items for each Albemarle Emmaus weekend. Our goal is to promote and enhance the Quality of Life and Spiritual Position of our Pilgrims and their families. We are seeking an individual with an outstanding desire to serve. No experience necessary. You do not have to create all the AGAPE yourself.

If you are interested in filling this position, or helping serve in any other capacity, we would like to hear from you.

We are also looking to the community to help with providing golf carts during each walk weekend. Someone has donated carts in the past but that source is no longer available. We can rent carts as we did several years ago, but that adds to the weekend cost. If you have a golf cart and would like to help by making it available for a weekend walk, or know of someone that has one who might be willing to make it available for a weekend walk, please let us know.
