AE Community:

As I announced at the Gathering Saturday night, we have received our Emmaus Letter of Agreement signed and returned from the Upper Room that authorizes us to continue serving our Lord through our Walks to Emmaus. Thank you for all your prayers

Please allow me to pass along several points of information:

    * First, a special “Thank You” to Melody & Jake Leonard for their service to this Community over the past few months guiding our Community music. They will be moving to the Elkton, Va. area in June. Rocky Allen will be guiding our music in the interim.

    * It is a great & perfect time for summiting applications for teaming and pilgrims for the fall 2008 men’s & women’s walks. Please do not wait till the last minute! Start praying and get those applications in; contact that future Pilgrim that you hear God telling you about: take action & “Get it Done!”

    * Summer attendance to gatherings historically drops off. Come out and join the fun and fellowship with your fellow Emmaus family; stay connected and charged!

    * And finally, I wish to pass along special “Prayers & Praises” to all the new Board Members for Albemarle Emmaus & Albemarle Chrysalis. God Bless you for your Servant’s Heart for the Albemarle Emmaus Community!     Love and Prayers to all!

We regret to announce that there has not been enough community response to justify a summer Chrysalis Flight. Please continue to pray for the Albemarle Chrysalis Board as plans move forward for a January Flight. However, do not stop with just prayer . . . action is needed to back up our prayers. Now is the time to clear your schedule to be part of the January 1 — 4, 2009 weekend because the New Year will be here before you know it. Submit those Chrysalis Team   Caterpillar applications for Winter Flight AC #31. Team applications need to be in by September 1st, and Caterpillar applications should be in before October 1st.

Emmaus Is An Effective Tool
From the Upper Room Web Site

People’s behavior often changes following participation in an Emmaus Walk, especially when a walk is followed by participation in a Reunion Group. Pilgrims show evidence of a greater commitment to a devotional life and regular practice of spiritual discipline when involved in fellowship and tend to have a deep level of caring which is expressed, in turn at church, at home and work. A desire to share love often takes the form of new commitments to charitable work in the community or deeper more committed work in the church. Emmaus is not what causes this change but is a tool the Holy Spirit uses as a stimulus.

Persons from different denominations discover a sense of unity in Christ and an increase in appreciation and desire for Holy Communion as well. Among the most heartening effects of Emmaus is the reengagement of men in church and family life.

The strength of any Emmaus Community is a direct result of its recruiting practices. A community committed to recruiting strong church leaders for the purpose of strengthening the local church will be a strong vital force in the renewal movement.

Sponsorship is integral to some of the unique features and strengths of the Emmaus experience . . . a discerning approach to recruitment, personal agape and prayer for the pilgrims, sponsor's presence at Candlelights, Closings, and throughout the Fourth Day. Sponsorship is like being a godparent. The responsibility of the godparent isn't just to stand with a person in front of the church but to see them grow in the spiritual life, to offer help and guidance throughout their entire life.

Urgent Prayer Request from Emmaus of the Rockies

From: Don Alan Mo Frederick
Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2008 11:19 AM
Subject: Urgent Prayer Request from Emmaus of the Rockies

We would like to seek our brother's and sister's prayer support for our upcoming Walks. Our men's walk is scheduled for June 19 - 22 and we only have one pilgrim signed up. Our Women's Walk is scheduled for June 26-29 and we only have 2 pilgrims signed up. Both walks are suffering from a lack of people to support the walks. We haven't done summer walks in a long time and we planned them so that "seasonal" employees like teachers could sign up. Our prayer is that we acknowledge and abide by God's will on this subject, not our own.

Thank you for your prayers . . . please pass this request along to the members of your community.

Mo Frederick,
Emmaus of the Rockies Wall Agape Servant
